Last week, I attended the National Property Conference on the Gold Coast. Despite the distance, it was great to see strong representation from Western Australia. At the Gala Dinner on Thursday night, the 2024 API Excellence in Property Awards were announced, and I’m excited to share that two Western Australians were among the winners!

John Martin LFAPI – Outstanding Contribution to Property Award This award recognises contribution to the Property industry as a wider profession, celebrating an inspirational role model to inspire diverse API professionals. John has been a dedicated Life Fellow of the API since 1998, offering his expertise and leadership to numerous API boards and committees, including the WA Divisional Council and a term as National President.

He has been instrumental in promoting the valuation profession globally, serving as the API’s representative on the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) Advisory Forum Working Group (AFWG), which he chaired for 14 years.

His leadership during critical periods, such as the Global Financial Crisis and COVID-19 pandemic, was invaluable to the profession. John’s contributions have not only enhanced valuation standards in Australia but have also gained international recognition. A member of API’s Standards Steering Committee, John has tirelessly volunteered his time to ensure the highest standards within the profession. His passion and commitment over four decades have made him an influential figure, respected both locally and internationally. …

Congratulations to John! Thoroughly deserved!
